Yesterday was an amazing day, I got to take my girls skiing with their school. They had been a few weeks before, but I was not able to go with them as I was in Florida. This was my first time taking them skiing. For me a monumental event. You see, when I was 6, my dad took me skiing with my school for the first time. I grew up skiing and snowboarding. It was a huge part of my life. Essentially it is a huge part of who I am. To take my girls skiing was really one of the best days for me. Something I have dreamed about. Almost a progression from one generation to another of the things that I loved. A passing on of who I am. Even better both of my girls loved it and excelled at it.
I remember them several times talking about how many times they fell. When we would get to the top of a run, they would say, "Daddy, I am not going to fall at all this time." In my proud daddy voice, excited about the day, and the experience that I would remember forever. I would try to inject some parental wisdom. "Girls it doesn't matter if you fall or how much you fall, what matters is that you get back up again." Does God want us to fall? Of course not! As Paul says, May it never be. God knows us. He knows our nature. He knows we are plagued by the curse of sin. But He does not condemn us, He in His loving nature and wisdom just says. "Get back up again." So here is my challenge to you. Whatever you have done, whatever has caused you to fall. Don't focus on the fall. Focus on Jesus, and get back up again.
