To pray? Or not to pray?

I will be the first to admit, that I do not really know how to pray. I have been studying and learning more all the time better ways to pray. For the most part, I have felt like this area of my life has been lacking. I think the first step to a better prayer life is time. Many of us spend far too little time investing in our prayer lives.

Would you be happy if you only talked to your spouse or best friend for a minute a day? Imagine with me for a minute, that your closest friend comes to you and says, "Hey ________, I would like to hang out, I need to run, can you keep me safe, and watch over my family, oh so yesterday, I was disobedient can you forgive me, and help me not to do it again. Thanks, friend. Talk to you tomorrow. When tomorrow comes, your best friend walks in and says the exact same thing. How would that make you feel? Do you think you would keep a strong relationship? Then we wonder so often why we don't have a great walk with God.

It's ok, you don't know how to pray. I get it. Most of us don't. Let's think about the people that did and learn from them.

Read: Daniel 6:1-10

Journal: What did Daniel do to pray? How often did he set aside time? Do you think this was the only time Daniel prayed? What can you take away from this story in regards to prayer?

Pray: Today try praying through an acronym.
P.R.A.I.S.E
P = Praise God
R = Repent, ask God to forgive you for whatever you need to.
A = Ask, ask God whatever you need.
I = Intercession, this means to ask on behalf of others.
S = Pray through Scripture. (Pick a few verses and pray as they remind you of what to pray about.)
E = Enjoy God's presence. Just sit in silence and listen.
