Ups and downs. Ups and downs. I like to eat, I would also like to be healthier. I am torn by this. I eat too much, I eat food that I shouldn't. Then I eat foods that I should, I feel better. I feel good. So why then is it, that when I see the bad, I eat it because it looks and so good? Why do I eat, what makes me weak? Food is a struggle for me. I want to lose weight so that I am healthier, so that I am faster. I want to do better, but the problem is, I seem to do the things I don't want to do even though I know the things that I should do.
This seems to be common, not just for food, but for all kinds of different things that plague us. Romans 7:15-20 (NKJV) 15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. This is what happens to us. With food, with sin, with life, with temptation. What do we do? How can we get past the temptation? You ask. Over and over again, the Bible says to ask. Ask and it will be given to you. There is a God, who died for you, who paid with His life for your struggles. If we ask he will give us victory. Read Psalm 51 and see how David asked.
