A couple of days ago, I got up at 5:15 AM to meet a buddy at the hotel gym. It was a pretty nice hotel gym, with several treadmills, some ellipticals, bikes, and machines. Many hotel gyms have just a few cardio machines, but this place was well stocked, it even had an extensive arrangement of free weights. Dumbell and barbells. My good friend and I set up a bench to work out our chests and arms. It seems like no matter how many times I work out chest, I still feel like a bit of a softy. No, I am not pushing three or even two plates. No, I am the guy who is pushing light weights, and yes my chest hurts every time. This particular time I was sore for almost 3 days. I remember a time, previously with another friend in which my chest was sore for 4 days.
These experiences, however, made me stronger. Even though I feel like a bit of a softy at the time. The more I work out the less sore I seem to be. I was looking at an Instagram page today with totally jacked up CrossFit guys. Some people just make you feel weak. But at the same time, make me want to get stronger. This is kinda like our devotional life. At first, it's not easy. Sometimes you don't wanna do it. But before long it gets easier, and you wanna spend more and more time with God. The Bible says that God walked with Enoch. I hope that one day I can walk with God like that. Am I there? I would not say so. But the more time I spend with God each day, the more it becomes a consistent and necessary walk. The more it becomes the desire of my heart. I want to challenge you to open your Bible today and walk closer to God. I am reading Luke 11, Proverbs 15, and Psalm 141. Join me. And when you pray, spend some time intentionally thanking God for who He is and the good things that he has given you.
